Mollie Joyce Hill

Born 29th October 1923 Died 22nd March 2013 in Cornwall.

To me as an Aunt, Mollie was the wild one, not wild maybe but unconventional, a free spirit at one with the world and the envorment.

I remember visiting her when she lived in a cottage, Butlers just outside in the woods in Mevagissey, it was a wonderful location the cottage tucked away from the noise and bustle of everyday life, there was a very small but close community in the woods and they all seemed to help one another out, sadly I did not spend as much time as I would have liked there but she always greetly warmly was always ready to offer food and refreshment. Sometimes I would stay with one of her neighbours, Brenda and Ivor Decorcy sitting out til late drinking home made wine, great memories.

Mollie died on Cornwall on the 22nd March 2013 preceded by her daughter Janet Miriam Gilbert, known as Jannie, born 31st July 1944 in Lytham St. Anne’s, died February 28th 2008.

Molly had two other children with Geoffrey Gilbert Bridget Phyllis Gilbert, known as Bee, born in Carshalton, Surrey in 1946 and Hilary Geoffrey Gilbert born the 1953 in Mevagissey, Cornwall. Geoffrey Gilbert went on to have two other children, Dominic and Felicity.
