John Gittins Family Tree

As from previously Margaret Gittins stays with Annie at the time of the census in 1881, go to census and 1881 to see record.

Next we find John Gittins, aged 45, her brother living near Newton Abbot in Devon with his family.

Wife Charlotte Gittins then aged 42 is living with him and we have son Herbert aged 15 and daughter Annie aged 7.

John’s Father Charles was from Greenwich Kent, so it would appear at some time he returned there where is son was born, then they return to Newcastle where in 1904 Annie Dorrington niece, also Annie was born.

So they moved around a fair bit although as he was in the army that may well be where he was stationed at various times.

Eventually by 1911 census, click here to see census when he was retired from the army, the moved to Devon, my interpretation of the census it that he appears to have become a farmer.

His son, Herbert, is down as a “pipe maker in a pottery factory”
